I’ve decided to break this massive collection into bite-sized chunks, grouped as a “Series.” This project will begin with Series 1 and Series 2. If collectors take interest in this concept, I will continue to assemble the remaining concert posters from the Ultrasounds collection into groups by Series until it has been almost entirely depleted.
The intent is to be transparent about known quantities of every poster from the Ultrasounds collection as it’s being depleted. To do that, every copy will go into one of the 4 “piles” below:
Available
These are the posters, fliers, and handbills available to be randomly packed by series. Beyond Series 1, any poster that appears in a Series will only be available from that Series. In other words, all available quantity for a given poster will be entirely packaged and released at once.
The Reference Collection
This is the heart of the collection, where at least one copy is stored of every known variation of every poster. When possible, both a file copy and a display copy are retained in the reference collection. The total unique posters in the collection is still unclear, but it’s in the multiple tens of thousands.
My Personal Collection
These are my own personal goodies 🙂 For the most part, they’re portions of the reference collection where only a single copy exists. My goal is to keep this under 1,000 posters. I’m more of a completist than a collector of multiples. I may hold an extra copy or two for trades in some circumstances, but I will make note wherever applicable.
Posters Pending Destruction
If a given poster has more than 50 copies in the collection, the remaining copies will be filed for destruction for up to 3 years. I’m reserving that time for decision making by a party larger than myself in case there is a public consensus to distribute them in a different way. If you have a different idea, I’d encourage you to share it in our community forums.
